Community Association Governance and Communication
Resurrected work on by-laws for community association.
Assigned resource to start ownership and start working on web-site.
Monitoring local development:
Participated heavily in the city and KGPC fight against the golf course development.
Lobbied for resurrection of walking path between Kanata Lakes and Kanata North Business Park as KNL Lands developed.
Helped residents to understand the process for reporting concerns over blasting in local developments.
Offered comments alongside FCA-FAC to cities proposal for intensification, part of the city’s new Official Plan.
Protecting our greenspace:
We continued to work alongside Jenna Sudds and the KGPC to prevent Clublink’s proposal to redevelop the KLFC and upheld the 40% agreement. The court date was held in July 2020 with a positive result in early 2021 but the fight will continue.

Promoting community safety:
Successfully lobbied for installation of dedicated green light for left turn signal on the Terry Fox @ Kanata Ave.
Helped report in break-in issues in the neighbourhood.
Inspiring local youth:
In June 2020, we organized virtual Kids Talent Shows during the pandemic.
Initiated, and set up the Career Discovery workshops, but only had a chance to have the first one, as Covid just struck just days before our second workshop.
We collaborated with the Kanata Food Cupboard for a virtual fundraiser in December 2020.
Participated in initial meetings of a cross-Kanata group of Community Associations to start collaboration.
One of our members participated with MPP Merilee Fullerton in developing ideas for promoting volunteering in our community.
Continued to participate in FCA-FAC…cross Ottawa Association of Community Associations who, among other things, are working to promote community interests in the new Ottawa Official Plan.
We helped residents, businesses and the city connect over various subjects especially during the COVID-19 pandemic including: advice to parents looking for volunteer hours for community service, companies wanting to connect with potential users , companies offering food deliveries in the area, WOCRC, Library.
Partnered with the City to purchase and install a commemorative bench in Jim Malone Park, as recognition for Jim’s work as the president of the KLCA for 12 years.
